Frequently asked questions

Is the information really removed?

Yes. A redacted page is replaced by an image of the page with solid black boxes, so the original text, links and form fields of that page are no longer in the file. Pages without redactions are copied unchanged, and the new file has no metadata or bookmarks.

Can I still search the redacted pages?

No. Redacted pages become images; run OCR afterwards if you need searchable text on them.

Is my document uploaded?

No. Searching and redaction happen in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
